In many urban rivers, there is a gap between the growing social use and the limited citizen participation in its management. This work details the design, and implementation, of a participatory process model designed to promote the active involvement of the general public in the management of a stream in the Metropolitan Region of Barcelona. In addition, it evaluates the results of this pilot process to obtain a series of learning points. These serve as a theoretical basis for the design of participatory processes that seek the empowerment of citizens in the management of their river spaces.
