PLANNING SUPPORT SYSTEM

The Planning Support System (LET’s SSP) shows the socio-economic status of open spaces in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and allows the generation of future scenarios considering the types of land cover and the metabolism that characterizes the metropolitan green infrastructure. Here we present a pilot test in which you can optimize possible future scenarios according to the prioritization you would give to public policies.

The future scenarios are obtained from the Socioecologic Integrated Analysis (SIA). This model allows to make a systemic assessment of the metropolitan territory, where the different dimensions of the green infrastructure (figure 1) interact simultaneously in a complex way to obtain as a result the identification of synergies and tradeoffs.

Figure 1. SIA conceptual Model.

The dimensions of the green infrastructure are reflected in 10 indicators obtained from SIA model (figure 2). This indicators allow the assessment of policies impacting the metropolitan territory, and they have been co-produced by the technical team of the Director Urban Plan of the BMA to respond tehir needs.

The PSS is therefore a meta-model build from the SIA approach which allows users to obtain, in real time, future scenarios of the green metropolitan infrastructure, according to the priorities of the planning previously defined by the user, based on the dimensions (figure 1) and the considered indicators (figure 2).

Figura 2. Indicators of the Integrated Socioecologic Analysis.

Since it is about an integrated meta-model, results from future scenarios allow to check possible synergies and tradeoffs in the values (numerical and cartographic) of the indicators, and to adjust, if needed, the approach of the goals previously established in order to obtain new optimized scenarios.

In this sense, the user can not only view the consequences of the different sectorial or transversal policies on the metropolitan system, but to find also solutions from establishing different priorizations
